Aramco prioritizes Petroline to bypass Hormuz risks, routinely fixing physical disruptions within four to six weeks.
- Following the May 2019 pump station strikes, Saudi Aramco restored partial flows within 48 hours and normalized quickly.
- A seven-week shutdown window offers ample margin for repair unless pump stations suffered catastrophic structural destruction.
- Credible reports of ongoing regional strikes preventing site access would drop odds below 40%.

Saudi Aramco typically restores critical infrastructure quickly given strategic importance and 6-week window to Oct 31.
- Saudi Arabia has strong technical capacity and financial incentive to restore a major export pipeline swiftly, historically repairing damage within weeks.
- No indication of catastrophic destruction (e.g., major attack) was mentioned, suggesting maintenance or moderate issue rather than prolonged damage.
- Six-week window is ample for typical pipeline repairs; risk factor is if shutdown involves major structural damage requiring extended reconstruction.

It turns on whether the September shutdown was precautionary and repairable rather than tied to a sustained regional-security disruption.
- Saudi Aramco and the Energy Ministry can restore and announce partial flow without external regulatory approval before October 31.
- Comparable pipeline outages often clear in weeks, but a 50-day halt suggests security, damage assessment, or export-routing constraints may persist.
- A confirmed strike, major physical damage, or continued closure of Red Sea/Gulf export routes would sharply lower the odds.

Repair timeline after the Sept 11 halt plus a present-tense Ministry announcement by Oct 31.
- Energy Ministry must state the line is operating (partial OK) by 23:59 ET 31 Oct; future-tense or third-party claims fail.
- Saudi pipeline outages historically clear in 2–6 weeks; 50-day window from 11 Sep sits at the high end of that base rate.
- A confirmed large-scale strike with extensive damage would be the main downward revision.

Whether the shutdown is a brief precaution or a strike-damage repair determines everything.
- Saudi Aramco and the Ministry of Energy control both the repair timeline and the announcement, with roughly six weeks to act.
- The September 11 halt came amid regional escalation; similar precautionary shutdowns in 2019 (Abqaiq) restored output within weeks, not months.
- If satellite or shipping data show crude still loading at Yanbu by mid-October, that would signal damage severe enough to push resolution past the deadline.

Pipeline restarts are typically announced within weeks, but we don't know why it was shut down or how severe the cause is.
- The East-West pipeline (Petroline) is critical Saudi infrastructure moving ~5M bpd to Red Sea ports, creating strong incentive to restore quickly.
- If the shutdown was due to a Houthi attack or sabotage (plausible given regional tensions), repairs could take 4-8 weeks, fitting the ~7-week window.
- If it was a deliberate strategic decision (e.g., rerouting or maintenance), a restart announcement could come faster; a major structural failure would push past October…

Resolution criteria
On September 11, 2026, Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy announced that the East-West oil pipeline has been shut down. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the government of Saudi Arabia announces that the East-West oil pipeline is operational or no longer shut down between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. A qualifying announcement must express that the pipeline is presently operating; operation at partial or reduced capacity qualifies. Announcements that attribute such a claim to third parties, state that the pipeline will or may operate in the future, describe work underway to restore operation, or frame resumption as expected, planned, or conditional, will not qualify. Once a qualifying announcement is made, this market will resolve to “Yes,” regardless of any subsequent contradictory statements, or alternative information from other sources. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Saudi Arabia.
