This hinges on whether Tehran offers a face-saving concession that lets Trump declare a short-term de-escalation before Sept. 30.

    • The White House can act unilaterally, but only ten days remain and a blockade imposed July 13 is politically costly to reverse quickly.
    • Comparable coercive maritime measures usually persist through an initial bargaining phase; a formal broad suspension is less common than narrow waivers.
    • A verified Iranian halt to targeted shipments, or a mediated ceasefire announced by Oman or Qatar, would materially raise the odds.

Only a rapid US-Iran diplomatic breakthrough before Oct 1 would end the blockade this fast.

    • Blockade only reimposed July 2026 and remains active as of Sept 21 with no signs of lifting.
    • No public negotiations or ceasefire announcements reported that would justify an abrupt reversal within days.
    • Ten-day window is short; blockades of this nature typically persist for months absent major diplomatic shift.

Nine days left after a July 13 Trump reinstatement leaves almost no window for a public lift.

    • Trump or a Cabinet-level official must issue an explicit cease-blockade statement by 23:59 ET 30 Sep; no such talks are known to be concluding.
    • Post-1979 US naval/economic measures on Iran have lasted years, not weeks; two-month duration sits far below that reversal base rate.
    • Only a sudden, verified Iran concession (e.g., nuclear freeze plus hostage release) announced this week would move the odds.

Lifting a major naval interdiction policy within nine days without a finished diplomatic deal is virtually impossible.

    • Only nine days remain before the September 30 deadline, leaving zero runway for the diplomatic breakthroughs needed to end it.
    • Naval blockades and maritime interdiction operations initiated by Washington historically persist for months or years.
    • A formal ceasefire or major Iranian concession announced before October 1 is the sole mechanism that could trigger a suspension.

Only Trump can reverse his own July 13 blockade, and nothing in nine weeks suggests he will do so in the next nine days.

    • The blockade was announced July 13, 2026, and in the nine weeks since there has been no public signal of lifting; the administration has instead framed it as ongoing…
    • Any suspension would require Trump's own reversal, and he has historically escalated rather than retreated within a quarter of announcing a measure like this.
    • The window is only nine days; absent a negotiated deal or oil-price shock forcing a pivot, no mechanism exists to produce an announcement by September 30.

Resolution criteria

On July 13, 2026, Trump announced the United States would reinstate its naval blockade of Iran, targeting Iranian ships and customers. This market will resolve to “Yes” if the United States government, or an authorized representative of the United States government, publicly and officially announces the end, termination, lifting, or suspension of the United States’ naval blockade on Iranian ships and ships of Iranian customers, between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No”. An announcement qualifies if it communicates that the United States will generally cease blocking vessel traffic for Iranian ships and customers, including an announcement that the blockade will not take effect at all, even if some restrictions remain (for example, an imposition of fees). An announcement does not qualify if it reflects only a limited or partial change that stops short of a general end or suspension of the blockade, for example, an exemption for a specific vessel, cargo, or port. A qualifying announcement must be a declarative statement of the United States government’s present termination or suspension of the blockade, previously-unan
