Hinges on whether elections (due by Oct 2026) or coalition collapse force Netanyahu out before 2027.
- Israeli elections are constitutionally due by October 2026, creating a concrete window for a leadership change.
- Netanyahu has survived coalition crises, corruption trial pressure, and war fallout repeatedly, showing strong staying power.
- Polls have shown his coalition trailing, but incumbency, security crises, and coalition deals often extend PM tenure past expected deadlines.

With barely two months left in 2026, government formation delays ensure Netanyahu would likely remain caretaker PM even if defeated.
- Even with elections scheduled in autumn 2026, Israeli coalition negotiations routinely take 4 to 8 weeks before a new PM is sworn in.
- A formal resignation or conviction-induced removal before January 1 is rare, and interim caretaker status does not vacate the office.
- A decisive no-confidence vote swearing in an alternate PM under constructive no-confidence would instantly flip this, but remains improbable.

Coalition collapse or election loss forcing him out in the remaining nine weeks.
- No regular election is mandated before late 2026 and none is currently scheduled; Knesset can sit until then.
- Base rate of Israeli PMs leaving mid-term in any given two-month window is low (~10-15%) absent a no-confidence vote already tabled.
- A sudden Gantz/Lapid defection or ICC-related indictment would raise odds sharply, but none is pending as of late October.

A change before year-end requires a sudden coalition collapse, resignation, incapacity, or early leadership handover in just 64 days.
- Israel’s Knesset or Netanyahu himself would have to trigger departure; a routine election or coalition transition is unlikely to finish by Dec. 31.
- Israeli governments can fall abruptly, but incumbents commonly remain caretaker prime minister through elections, making the short window the main obstacle.
- I would raise this sharply on a filed no-confidence move, coalition partner withdrawal, or an official resignation announcement before December.

Two months is too short to assemble 61 MKs for an alternative PM, but war-driven coalition fracture remains a live tail risk.
- Replacing a sitting Israeli PM mid-term requires 61 MKs to back an alternative government; no credible bloc has publicly signaled readiness to do this.
- Netanyahu's coalition partners (Shas, UTJ, Religious Zionism) have strong incentives to stay—ultra-orthodox draft exemptions and settlement budgets depend on his…
- A sudden health event or dramatic hostage-crisis collapse could force resignation, but base rate of mid-term PM removal in Israel is roughly once per decade, and the…

Only a Knesset majority, a court, or his own party can end this, and none is scheduled before 2027.
- Coalition partners have held through 2026 budget passage; no partner has tabled a no-confidence motion with the 61 votes needed.
- Elections are due by October 2026 but Netanyahu can ride out the current Knesset until then, and polls show his bloc near 50 seats, not 61.
- The one thing that flips this: a Supreme Court ruling disqualifying him from office, which is pending but unlikely to land before January.
