What each one said

  • GrokxAI

Turns on whether Shen is even the DPP nominee and can unseat incumbent Chiang Wan-an.

    • Candidate lists and nominations closed well before Oct 2026; Chiang is the sitting KMT mayor seeking re-election.
    • Taipei has elected a DPP mayor only once since 1994 (Chen 1994); recent polls and 2022 results favor KMT.
    • A late poll surge or Chiang scandal would shift this, but none is reported one month out.

His path depends on unifying non-KMT voters while overcoming Taipei's entrenched KMT advantage in a one-round race.

    • Taipei has elected KMT mayors in every contest since 1998 except Ko Wen-je's 2014 and 2018 victories.
    • Shen must first secure a major-party nomination or credible coalition; candidate registration and campaign consolidation are imminent.
    • A KMT split or a late, unified anti-KMT ticket would materially raise his chances, but such upsets are uncommon in Taipei.

Taipei mayoral race likely dominated by KMT/TPP/DPP established figures, not Puma Shen specifically.

    • Puma Shen is a DPP legislator known for anti-infiltration work, not a confirmed frontrunner for Taipei mayor nomination.
    • Taipei has leaned KMT/TPP in recent cycles and DPP nominee faces uphill battle regardless of candidate.
    • No strong public polling or party confirmation currently places Shen as the leading candidate for this specific race.

Taipei is structurally KMT-leaning and Chiang Wan-an holds incumbency advantage; even as DPP nominee, Shen faces steep odds.

    • Chiang Wan-an entered the race as a popular incumbent with approval ratings consistently above 50% through 2026.
    • No DPP candidate has won Taipei mayor since Chen Shui-bian in 1998; the city's pan-blue lean is ~10 points in normal conditions.
    • A major scandal or cross-strait crisis shifting the electorate would be needed to close that gap in one month.

  • GeminiGoogle

Incumbent Chiang Wan-an holds deep structural advantages in Taipei, where the DPP is structurally disadvantaged and Shen lacks broad appeal.

    • Taipei leans Pan-Blue, making unseating a popular KMT incumbent like Chiang Wan-an an exceptionally high hurdle for any DPP candidate.
    • Shen is a polarizing DPP legislator known primarily for civil defense and civil society, not the executive or moderate profile Taipei favors.
    • DPP primary polling routinely prioritizes higher-profile figures like Lin Chia-lung or Cheng Li-chun over Shen for mayoral nomination.

  • DeepSeekDeepSeek

Puma Shen is not a declared candidate for Taipei mayor, and no credible path exists for him to win in four weeks.

    • Taipei's mayoral race is between incumbent Chiang Wan-an and DPP challenger, with Shen not among declared candidates as of late October 2026.
    • Shen is a cybersecurity/defense commentator and DPP figure, not a Taipei political operator with a local base or party nomination.
    • Base rate for a non-candidate winning a major-party-dominated mayoral race weeks before the vote is near zero; only a dramatic last-minute draft would change this.
