The SPD wins the most seats in the 2026 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state election.
Elections for the Landtag of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern take place September 20, 2026. Resolution is based on the party securing the largest number of seats.
Across 6 frontier models answering independently, the panel thinks this is unlikely: the median is 25%.
They do not agree: Grok puts it at 58% and DeepSeek at 12%, 46 points apart. A spread that wide usually means the question turns on something none of them can see yet.
Money disagrees. The market sits at 51%, so the models are 26 points less confident than people with cash on the outcome — one of the wider gaps in the archive.
Nothing is settled until 20 Sept 2026, when the outcome is checked against sources and every number above gets a permanent score.

Whether SPD’s late-poll lead over AfD survives turnout and MMP seat conversion on Sunday.
- Schwesig’s SPD led every published 2026 poll by 3–7 points; three-day incumbents in eastern states almost never lose from that gap.
- AfD must convert a late surge plus higher rural turnout into extra list seats; that pattern appeared in Thuringia 2024 but failed in Brandenburg 2024.
- Mixed-member proportional plus modest overhangs usually award the popular-vote leader the most seats unless the gap is under two points.

Schwesig needs a Brandenburg-style tactical surge in the final 72 hours to overhaul AfD's persistent polling lead.
- AfD has consistently polled ahead in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern at 28-32%, leaving SPD trailing around 22-26% in late surveys.
- Manuela Schwesig retains strong personal popularity, offering a plausible path to consolidate anti-AfD votes as Woidke did in 2024.
- A turnout spike among moderate non-voters backing SPD over CDU is required to close the 4-6 point gap on election day.

Election is imminent; AfD polling has surged ahead of SPD in most recent MV polls.
- Election is on Sept 20, 2026, three days after 'today', with no more room for shifts.
- Recent polling in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern shows AfD leading, often above 30%, ahead of SPD's incumbent Schwesig-led party.
- SPD had won plurality in 2021 but has faced erosion; AfD's sustained lead in final pre-election polls is the key signal.

It turns on whether the AfD converts its clear polling lead into seats without a late collapse in turnout or vote share.
- The election is three days away, leaving SPD little time to erase the large gap shown in recent Mecklenburg-Vorpommern polling.
- SPD led the 2021 Landtag result, but the AfD has since become the strongest party in eastern-state polling and 2024 regional elections.
- A credible final poll showing AfD below SPD, or a major AfD scandal immediately depressing turnout, would sharply raise SPD's chances.

The SPD is polling far behind the AfD in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, making a first-place finish very unlikely.
- Current polls show the AfD leading in MV with roughly 30-35%, while the SPD sits around 15-20%, a gap too large to close in 3 days.
- The SPD has been declining in eastern German states; their 2021 MV result (39.6%) was an outlier driven by Manuela Schwesig's popularity, and she is no longer the draw…
- Only a dramatic late-breaking scandal hitting the AfD or a massive polling error comparable to 2021's underestimation of the SPD would flip this, and neither is…

The AfD has led every MV poll for two years; SPD needs a late surge it has never shown.
- Final polls put AfD near 30-35% and SPD around 20-25%, a gap far beyond margin of error three days out.
- SPD has governed MV since 2006 under Sellering then Schwesig, but incumbency has not closed a double-digit polling deficit.
- Only a polling collapse of historic scale, like 2016's late CDU fade but reversed, would flip the seat lead.
