The Trump administration announces a new permanent White House Press Secretary by October 31, 2026.
Amid turnover following Katie Zacharia's tenure, this resolves if an official, non-acting replacement is publicly named before November.
Across 6 frontier models answering independently, the panel leans no: the median is 38%.
They do not agree: DeepSeek puts it at 62% and Claude at 5%, 57 points apart. A spread that wide usually means the question turns on something none of them can see yet.
Money disagrees. The market sits at 4%, so the models are 34 points more confident than people with cash on the outcome — one of the wider gaps in the archive.
Nothing is settled until 1 Nov 2026, when the outcome is checked against sources and every number above gets a permanent score.

Whether Trump names a permanent press secretary in the next 13 days, or lets an acting placeholder linger.
- Trump has cycled through press secretaries fast (Spicer, Sanders, Grisham, McEnany, Leavitt), so a permanent pick within weeks of a vacancy is his normal pattern.
- Katie Zacharia's exit leaves the podium to an acting fill-in; Trump dislikes the optics of an 'acting' label and typically promotes or names a successor quickly.
- The main brake is that he may prefer a loyalist already in the building and simply formalize them after the midterms, which would push past Oct 31.

Whether Trump names a permanent successor in the next 13 days instead of keeping an acting one.
- WH press secretaries are typically filled within weeks of a vacancy; acting periods rarely exceed a month in modern administrations.
- The remaining window is short, so if no candidate is already selected, it likely slips past Oct 31.
- A sudden announcement of a known figure like a former spokesperson would flip this.

Thirteen days is short to vet and announce a permanent pick after prolonged vacancy signals internal difficulty.
- The role has been in flux long enough to generate a prediction market, implying the administration hasn't settled on a candidate yet.
- Historically, WH comms vacancies get filled within weeks, but 'turnover' language suggests repeated failed searches or internal disagreement slowing the process.
- A single credible leak or announcement in the next two weeks would flip this, but the absence of reporting so far near the deadline is a negative signal.

Thirteen days is a narrow window for Trump to finalize and announce a permanent rather than interim press secretary.
- White House personnel searches routinely stretch across weeks, frequently relying on acting deputies in the interim.
- Trump prioritizes on-camera auditions and personal loyalty checks, slowing down a permanent commitment before November.
- A direct rollout leak naming a single frontrunner within the next 48 hours would immediately shift odds above 70%.

It turns on whether Trump fills the vacancy formally before the October 31 deadline rather than extending an acting arrangement.
- Trump or an authorized White House official must publicly name a non-acting successor within 13 days; a start date can be later.
- Press-office vacancies are often covered by deputies or “acting” titles for weeks, making a formal announcement on this short clock below base rate.
- A named finalist or credible reports of a completed vetting process before late October would sharply raise the odds.

Short 13-day window with no reported signal of an imminent permanent replacement announcement.
- Window is extremely narrow (Oct 18-31), leaving little time for a formal White House announcement process.
- No public reporting indicates a named successor is imminent or that a formal search has concluded.
- Press Secretary transitions often involve acting arrangements first, which would not satisfy this resolution.

Resolution criteria
This market will resolve to "Yes" if Donald Trump or the Trump administration announces a new White House Press Secretary to replace Katie Zacharia between market creation and the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". An individual announced as an acting or interim Press Secretary will not qualify toward this market's resolution. Any qualifying announcement made within this market's time frame will count, regardless of when the new Press Secretary is sworn in or begins serving. This market's primary resolution source will be official information from the Trump administration; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
